Prerequisite: Some basic knowledge of Geometer's Sketchpad

Description:
This workshop will provide participants with activities for using the Geometer's Sketchpad software program. Although it is a powerful tool to explore geometric concepts and make the study of geometry more meaningful and easier for students to understand, Geometer's Sketchpad can also be used to better understand concepts in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-calculus. The ability to create and manipulate figures on the computer enables students to quickly visualize and produce many more examples, examine properties of the figures, look for patterns, and make conjectures.

Objectives:
  • Make teaching and learning exciting, fun, and rewarding through Geometer's Sketchpad activities
  • Provide activities that utilize this dynamic software program to integrate into the curriculum
  • Improve student performance on standardized assessments by using activities that develop an appreciation for, and understanding of many concepts in geometry.
