Description:
Participants in this session will engage in a quick overview of NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards and assessments connecting to persuasive writing. Time will be spent reviewing a variety of teaching tools and possible approaches to teaching this genre. Attendees will share best practices and gather resources to add to their teaching toolbelts.

Objectives:
  • To review the Middle School NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards addressed while teaching persuasive writing
  • To examine the resources available on the web to support planning and instruction
  • To examine the variety of teaching tools available in the Language Arts classroom to support persuasive writing
