Description:
This workshop will introduce teachers to performance-based assessment tasks. During the spring of 2008, the NJDOE will probably field-test performance assessments state-wide. Performance tasks are scenarios built on real-life situations that require students to apply knowledge to a task. The tasks are designed to give students the opportunity to show what they know and understand. Examples of these tasks will be shared and available to be taken back to the classroom.

Objectives:
  • Introducing performance-based assessment tasks.
  • Learning how to assess these tasks, and use them in the classroom.
  • Introduction of rubrics used to assess students' responses to the performance-based tasks.
