Description:
Participants in this session will engage in a detailed overview of NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards and NJ Testing schedules and review resources available on the web. Time will be spent discussing common challenges students face with standardized tests and how we can work to better prepare them for success. Attendees will gather resources to add to their teaching toolbelts. Each teacher will have the opportunity to create an individual plan to approach teaching Language Arts in a way that strengthens student achievement.

Objectives:
  • To review the Middle School NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards and Assessments for the NJ Ask and Grade Eight Proficiency Assessments in Language Arts Literacy
  • To examine the resources available on the web to support planning and instruction
  • To ensure that new teachers understand and have strong working knowledge of the assessments and resources to ensure academic success
