Description:
Come explore how movie and television clips can be used to engage learners, identify student misconceptions, and support science learning. A wealth of free digital media is available online that supports NJ standards for science. From science songs to digital images and video clips, these free online resources not only appeal to visual and auditory learners, but make learning fun, engaging, and relevant for our digitally-connected students. We will also explore simple ways to create an online lab report with digital storytelling using VoiceThread and other online slideshow and movie-making tools.

Objectives:
  • Teachers will explore how free, online movie and television clips can be used to support science learning and identify "bad science"
  • Teachers will examine other free digital media that can be used to enhance science instruction
  • Teachers will learn ways to create online lab reports using digital images and video clips
