Description:
In this workshop, participants will learn strategies for integrating literacy and science. Tools and techniques will be demonstrated that incorporate the four modalities of language (reading, writing, speaking, listening) in science activities. We will explore ways to use literature and the different genres of writing in the science classroom. Strategies will be shared for developing science vocabulary and allowing for word acquisition. Additionally, teachers will receive resources and ideas for developing the skills of predicting, inferring, drawing conclusions and more!

Objectives:
  • Participants will learn practical strategies for integrating science and literacy
  • Participants will learn techniques for incorporating the four languages modalities within science learning activities.
