Description:
This workshop will provide teachers with activities for using the Geometer's Sketchpad software program. It is a powerful tool to explore geometric concepts and make the study of geometry more meaningful and easier for students to understand. The ability to create and manipulate figures on the computer enables students to quickly visualize and produce many more examples, examine properties of the figures, look for patterns, and make conjectures. This dynamic software program has applications for Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus which will be provided.

Objectives:
  • Make teaching and learning geometry and algebra exciting, fun, and rewarding through Geometer's Sketchpad activities
  • Provide activities that utilize this dynamic software program to integrate into the curriculum
  • Improve student performance on standardized assessments by using activities that develop an appreciation for and understanding of many concepts in geometry.
