Description:
Curriculum mapping is a process of ongoing curriculum and assessment review that identifies core skills and content taught, processes employed, and assessments used for each subject area and grade level. It becomes a “working document” and tool that helps teachers keep track of what has been taught and plan what will be taught in the future. In this workshop we will review the curriculum mapping process and explore resources for mapping middle school and high school language arts courses. If time permits, participants will have time to begin mapping for a language arts course. Participants should bring curricular materials, which might include lesson plans from the previous year, the school's written curriculum and/or texts

Objectives:
  • Participants will be exposed to various curriculum-mapping models.
  • Participants will receive resources to help map middle school and high school language arts curriculum.
  • Participants will examine examples of mapping software and web-based models.
