When we rewrite x^2+2x as (x+1)^2 - 1, we call it “completing the square”.Why? Where is the “square”? Why is the original formulation “incomplete”? (see link below) Come learn about the twisty turny story of solving polynomial equations, and the dramatic effect such problems had on mathematics, and the world.

Follow this link for a geometric exploration of the "completing the square" process.
